Escalera used the image of Gilbert Roland (famous Mexican movie star) as his main character. The “seniorita” in the painting is none other than Susana, his beloved wife. Reminiscent of an era long ago. After the battle raged it was time to relax, always time for guitars and song. Escalera used pallet knives for this piece and was very proud of the results. A rare piece as a few short years later he evolved to the use of the 00 paintbrush and never returned to the pallet knife.
